Moving to Joplin Missouri (an original poem and illustration)

ORIGINAL POEM BY JOHN RADFORD

Thanks to John for sending this in to us (and writing so hopefully about a city he's come to love so quickly). And thanks to Kayla Monteleone for creating the beautiful visual.

This new town's whisper

'I wanted to show you'

presupposes my arrival:

a setting of stones

to steer and guide,

to mark and warn.

This latest grace

cradles me as a nest

where I may learn

all the ways

free air feels

on skin and soul.

I whisper back:

'I want to see all

the days of joy

these stones may grow.'

And I will join the planting.

And we will meet the harvest.

New town, my home,

I want to show you.
