This is a big day for the toad. Up front, here’s what we’ll be talking about in this post:

1: today we begin accepting pre-orders for issue 2. We need your help! We’re half funded for the printing, thanks to our beautiful sponsors… now we need you guys to take us the rest of the way by pre-ordering your very own copy!

2: Ordering the newest copy is no longer our only option. We’re now offering a four tier subscription service for the toad, through a platform very similar to Patreon.

We were real, real proud of issue 1.
We’re even prouder of issue 2. Here’s some stats for you:



  • 71 pages of pure, local, original content

  • Top notch printing quality (we’ve been told by some this is actually better physical quality than the typical magazine)

  • Professional, unique design and layout work by the one and only Kayla Monteleone.

  • 32 contributors, all of them from Joplin, Missouri.

  • Issue 2 includes: 1 local historic piece, 2 short stories, 7 poems, 1 journalistic piece, 2 editorials, 3 featured artist interviews, multiple satire features, dozens of photographs, dozens of original artworks, 1 local music feature, one map, 3 games, and a whole lot of sass.

We are currently halfway funded for the printing of this issue, thanks to our sponsors. We need 66 pre-orders to get the other half of the cost covered.

Subscription service: 4 brand new tiers

TOAD 1: $1 a month. You'll get a shout out in the magazine + the warmth in your heart that comes from supporting local goodness.

TOAD 2: $3 a month: Tier 1 + access to monthly bonus content, 4 free stickers a year, and a digital download of our quarterly magazine.
